Monica was busy combing through the files, cross-referencing them with things from the internet and so on for much of the day. This was how they worked on most cases- Monica did the preliminary groundwork and then started filling Sarah in when she had a basic framework to go with. She would ask Sarah questions and get opinions if she was stuck but her instincts were golden and she was really if ever, stuck.

For her part, Sarah stayed busy with the day to day running of the office until she was needed. She was busy puttering when the door opened again and the place got a little darker. Chuck Dawson was so big he blotted out the sun from the door frame. He broke into a big and bright smile when he spotted Sarah though.

“Chuck! I thought our date was tomorrow night?” She said but brightly. She was actually rather pleased to see him especially after the weird visit from the mysterious Marco Mastriani.

“Tomorrow night. Seven pm. I was just heading down the street. I got a tip that one of my bounties is in that little salon down at the end there. I am waiting for her to walk to her car so I thought I would pop in and say hello.”

“Hi there, big guy. I'm Monica.” Monica was assessing the guy and Sarah could tell by the knitted brows that she was not 100% on board here. “Bounty?”

Chuck smiled, completely unaware that he was being judged at all or at least not worried about it. “I am a bounty hunter. But not like that blonde guy on TV. I don't go in for all that swearing and trying to make people pray with me or whatever. Besides, I never get any of the violent weirdos that make for good watchin'. This lady jumped bail. She is just a pussycat of a lady. I don't even have a gun on me.”

Monica rolled her eyes. The guy was built like an old army tank. What the hell would he need a gun for? “But you usually have one on you? Did you have one on you when you assaulted my best friend this morning, Mr. Dawson?”

Sarah and Chuck both whipped around, jaws hanging open in comic unison. “Assault?” They both gasped.

Chuck was the first to recover. “I assure you that this morning was an accident, Miss.. um, Monica. I would never do anything to hurt Sarah.” he smiled gently at Sarah who blushed like a 12-year-old. “ The gun was in the gun safe in my trunk. I don't pack when I am just wandering around town. I am not a gun fondling weirdo.”

Sarah patted him on the arm. “Monica, I told you what happened this morning. I don't know how or why you got assault out of that but come on, man. I don't think you need to be rude to Chuck.”

Monica shrugged the closest she was ever going to get to admitting that she was wrong at all. “No hard feelings, Chuck?”

He smiled and that was that.
